Good in Bed (Cannie Shapiro Series, Book 1)

by Jennifer Weiner

Nope, not a self-help manual.

This is the story of  a year in Cannie Shapiro’s life.  Coming to terms with her plus-sized self, crazy mother and ex-boyfriend’s new “Loving a Larger Woman” by-line in the local paper, Cannie’s year of growth and self-discovery will help her find lasting peace, happiness and love.

Jennifer Weiner’s snappy, witty dialogue gives this story relatable hope and humor.  Cannie will be so relatable, she will feel like one of your friends, maybe even a reflection of your past self.

How to Date Your Dragon (Mystic Bayou Series, Book 1)

by Molly Harper

Audiobook 2019

Narrated by:  Amanda Ronconi, Jonathan Davis

I read a review calling this book “sinfully sexy”, and I agree.  Very much a guilty pleasure with humor and creativity which will get you hooked from your first introduction to Mystic Bayou.

I recently traveled quite a bit back-and-forth from my home to my parent’s house.  This series on audiobook kept me entertained to enjoy each of my journeys.

Saving Grace

by Julie Garwood

Some time around mid 1994, a woman picked up a book for her grandmother, Grace.  Believing that her grandmother would be excited to see her name in the title of the book, this woman did not stop to read through the book before she purchased it.  Upon glancing through the book that night, she realized that the book contained sex!  Horrified, she realized she could never share the book with her grandmother, and she gave the book to her daughter who was an avid reader, Amanda.

Amanda fell in love with the romance genre in 1994 and never looked back!

Julie Garwood has always had a special place in my heart. Through my teens and early 20s, I read over 20 books by Julie Garwood.  I love the way she unites her fierce heroines and macho heroes with humor and respect.

Bridget Jones’ Diary (Bridget Jones, Book 1)

by Helen Fielding

Before Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant brilliantly brought this tale to the big screen, Helen Fielding made us laugh with Bridget Jones, a “30-something singleton” in search of the perfect life where she will:

1. Lose 7 pounds,

2. Stop smoking, and

3. Develop inner poise.

A caution for all of you who would brave reading this book in public.  You will laugh out loud!
